About Us City of the Hills Chorus is a group of women of all ages and all walks of life who meet once a week because we LOVE to sing. We chartered with Sweet Adelines International in 1985. We sing four-part harmony in the barbershop style and offer entertainment in the Oneonta/Cooperstown area singing modern show tunes, ragtime toe-tappers, pop tunes, and old favorites.

The chorus and quartets have performed for business and social organizations, nursing homes, Oneonta's First Night and other community events. We have had our own show every other year, often featuring guest quartets. A favorite annual activity is surprising lucky recipients with singing Valentines at such places as restaurants, offices, homes, hospitals, and businesses...any where and everywhere...once even at the half-time of a basketball game!

We work to improve our craft through regular rehearsals and special coaching sessions, and participation in music conference weekends. A highlight each year is the regional competition held in the Civic Center in Syracuse each April.

About Sweet Adelines Sweet Adelines is an international organization of women whose purpose is to teach the American folk art of singing four-part harmony in barbershop style, and through performances, to encourage appreciation of the tradition of that music. It started with a small group of women over 50 years ago in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It has grown into a non-profit organization of more than 600 chapters with over 30000 women throughout the United States and 11 countries. Choruses range in size from 20 to 180 and are encouraged to form quartets within their organization.

Visit Us! We welcome women over 18 to come for an evening and join in the fun of singing four-part harmony.  We meet at 7:00 at the First United Presbyterian Church, 381 Main Street, Oneonta (the church with the red doors next to Friendly's).  It is suggested to call Joanne at 267-4718 because we don't meet on some holidays that are celebrated on Monday.

Come...sing...& see what Sweet Adelines is all about!

Join Us! Our rehearsals are every Monday from 7:00 to 9:30 pm at the First United Presbyterian Church, 381 Main Street, Oneonta, New York.

Membership is open to women, age 18 and over. If you like to sing, we would welcome you to try singing four-part harmony with us. The ability to read music is helpful but not necessary because we use learning tapes for new music. For more information contact Joanne, 267-4718.

Ask any Sweet Adeline about what she likes about our organization and she will tell you---it's the fun and the camaraderie. We work at our craft---but it's fun! !
