Kim
Vaughn is one of the most well-known and instantly recognized women in the field of barbershop harmony. She was the Musical Director of the San Diego Chorus of Sweet Adelines (www.sdchorus.orgfrom1985 to 2015 and under her dynamic and knowledgeable leadership the San Diego Chorus won seven Regional Championship medals, numerous International medals and the International Gold medal in Portland, Oregon in 2001.

Kim’s talents lie not only in her directing and teaching skills, but also in her performance accomplishments.  She has three times won the coveted International Champion title, the first woman to ever do so, first in 1976 with High Society, then in 1988 with Savvy and most recently in 2001 with a cappella Gold.

Her work as a voice teacher and experience in barbershop harmony, have made Kim a very popular coach and adjudicator as well as faculty for barbershop music schools around the world. Her contributions have resulted in a host of both male and female medallists and champions.

Kim is a Certified Sound Judge, a Master International Faculty member, a member of the Region 21 Hall of Fame and in 2014 won Sweet Adeline’s highest honor the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Kim earned her Bachelor and Masters Degree in Music Education and Vocal Pedagogy at San Diego State University where she studied with Larra Browning Henderson and Mary MacKenzie.  A voice teacher by profession, Kim has her own studio consistently filled with a cappella and pop singers from around the globe – an especially true statement since adding Skype lessons and coaching to her vast repertoire of talents.
